RLS Day 13th November: #RLSDay

About RLS Day

Robert Louis Stevenson Day (#RLSDay) will be roundly celebrated on Thursday 13th November, his birthday. It will be a moustache-twirling, velvet-clad celebration of the life, loves and work of one of the most famous writers born in Edinburgh, our City of Literature.

On the Thursday 13th November, RLS’s ‘unbirthday’ you can join in walks, talks, tales and teas in his honour all across the city. And no matter where you are in the world, you’re invited to the party, as we celebrate the author who gave the world Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde too.

This year we take a closer look at TRAVEL in Stevenson’s work – whether crossing oceans on his way to Samoa, wandering France in Travels with a Donkey, exploring the landscape of his imagination in Treasure Island or meandering the streets of his home town, Edinburgh.

With walks exploring his childhood haunts that inspired A Child’s Garden of Verse, drama performances of his best-loved characters and afternoon tea at his former home, there are loads of events to celebrate and explore this fascinating author’s life and work.
